The conflict between President and Prime Minister of Ukraine on long gas dispute with Russia deepens, AP reported. President Viktor Yushchenko said that Ukraine might not need intermediaries to buy gas from Russia. Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, however, believes that it is distorted and unacceptable. The debate is followed with great interest throughout Europe, as it receives the majority of Russia's gas pipeline passing through Ukraine and threatened to stop deliveries.
The dispute over the question of middlemen and prices peaked this week when Russia cut gas to 50% of its neighbor. It was restored after Ukraine guarantees to pay its obligations. However, key issues remain without solution.
